ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for collective efforts to stimulate economic growth, focusing on employment, production, exports, and economic activity. Addressing the National Economic Council in Islamabad, he highlighted the importance of collaboration in overcoming economic challenges and praised provincial cooperation in addressing the petroleum crisis and implementing the IMF program.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for introducing incentives aimed at boosting exports and reviving the manufacturing sector as essential steps to enhance GDP growth and provide relief to the citizens. He noted that despite significant challenges, Pakistan’s economy has achieved stability, with the Federal Government allocating 128 billion rupees from limited resources to support these efforts.
Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated the priority of strengthening national defense, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the nation in combating terrorism. He specifically commended the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, along with law enforcement and security forces, for their contributions in the fight against terror. The Prime Minister expressed confidence in national unity and consensus as vital in eradicating terrorism.
The meeting saw the attendance of Chief Ministers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh. However, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz was absent due to illness.
