Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Investment, Khalid bin Abdul Aziz al Falih, today, marking a significant step towards strengthening investment ties between the two nations. The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to deepen economic cooperation, with a particular invitation extended to Saudi investors to participate in Pakistan’s aviation sector.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions between Prime Minister Sharif and Minister al Falih followed a fruitful Pakistan-Saudi Business Forum, which saw the signing of 27 MoUs and set the stage for new investments. During their meeting, Sharif highlighted the crucial role of the Pakistani diaspora in Saudi Arabia in fostering economic development and assured continued enhancement of consular services to support them.
The Prime Minister also briefed the Saudi Minister on Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council’s efforts in accelerating foreign investments and shared details about the government’s privatization program. He specifically invited Saudi Arabia to consider investments in the outsourcing of international airports in Pakistan. Additionally, Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and expressed readiness to bolster defense ties in support of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The meeting was also attended by key Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, indicating the high level of bilateral engagements.
