Islamabad, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has pledged to accelerate the conversion of agricultural tube wells to solar energy in Balochistan, aiming to address the critical electricity shortages affecting the province’s farmers. The commitment was made during a high-level meeting in Islamabad, which focused on agricultural and electrical challenges in Balochistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting, attended by Balochistan Chief Minister Safraz Bugti and other key officials, explored various strategies to improve the region’s power supply and agricultural productivity through sustainable means. Chief Minister Bugti highlighted the severe impact of power shortages on agriculture and emphasized the potential benefits of solar energy. Both leaders discussed the implementation of a comprehensive strategy to transition tube wells to solar power, alongside a public awareness campaign on the consequences of electricity theft, which they noted as a significant factor in ongoing load shedding issues.
