Islamabad: Pakistan is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to facilitate peace between the United States and Iran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated during a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad. The Prime Minister highlighted the significant role played by Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, in organizing talks between the two nations in Islamabad. He also referenced a recent visit by Iran’s Foreign Minister to Pakistan as part of these ongoing efforts.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan is on a path toward economic growth, having achieved macroeconomic stability. Sharif expressed a commitment to overcoming these challenges through unity and perseverance, stressing that success comes to those who face adversity with determination.
The Prime Minister also addressed domestic economic issues, noting the continuation of austerity and conservation measures that have led to a reduction in fuel consumption. He assured that the supply of petroleum products remains stable. He acknowledged the subsidies provided by provincial governments and affirmed the commitment of both federal and provincial authorities to maintain these measures. Additionally, Sharif expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s repayment of a $3.50 billion bilateral loan and thanked Saudi leadership for their support, noting that foreign exchange reserves remain stable despite the repayment.
