ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the recently signed Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Türkiye Joint Defence Agreement is set to enhance peace, development, and prosperity across the region. The agreement, signed in Makkah with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, marks an extension of the longstanding defence collaboration among the three nations.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif, during a Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad, emphasized that the agreement is not intended as a threat to any nation, but rather as a mechanism to promote regional stability. He highlighted the historical cooperation between Pakistani and Saudi forces in safeguarding the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, noting that the newly signed agreement builds on years of discussions.

The Prime Minister also recognized the efforts of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in finalizing the agreement. He paid homage to the security personnel who lost their lives in recent terrorist incidents, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. The Prime Minister expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs and vowed that their sacrifices would contribute to a future free from terrorism.

In addition to the defence agreement, Prime Minister Sharif addressed recent election outcomes in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where he claimed that the PML-N party had secured a majority. He reiterated the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and announced an upcoming All Parties Conference to discuss related issues.

The Prime Minister concluded by discussing preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, affirming that both federal and provincial governments would participate in the festivities.
