Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people’s quest for self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. Their statements were issued on International Nakba Day, underscoring the historical and ongoing struggles faced by Palestinians.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari emphasized the significance of Nakba Day as a reminder of the 1948 events that led to the displacement of numerous Palestinians, resulting in ongoing challenges such as occupation and denial of rights. He urged the international community to continue supporting Palestinian refugees and highlighted the unfulfilled right of return as stipulated in Resolution 194.
Prime Minister Sharif echoed similar sentiments on the social media platform X, advocating for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-June 1967 borders. He called for an immediate end to the actions of Israeli authorities against Palestinians, emphasizing the need to address the long-standing issues of oppression and violence.
