Pakistan Issues Strong Demarche to U.S. Over Remarks on Jammu and Kashmir

Islamabad: Pakistan lodged a strong protest with the United States following comments made by U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir. The U.S. Charge d’ Affaires in Islamabad was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address the matter, with Pakistan categorically rejecting the characterization of Jammu and Kashmir as a “part of India.”

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the remarks and emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir is recognized as a disputed territory under international law. The statement underscored the need for the issue to be resolved in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The statement further criticized the U.S. Ambassador’s comments as contradicting the longstanding U.S. position on the Kashmir dispute and its commitment to international law. Pakistan expressed appreciation for President Donald Trump’s earlier offer to mediate the dispute and urged the United States to ensure its public statements are aligned with the recognized status of Jammu and Kashmir.
