Pakistan Embassy in Washington Commemorates Fifth Anniversary of Youm-e-Istehsal


Islamabad: The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC hosted an event to observe the fifth anniversary of the controversial actions taken by India on August 5, 2019, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The commemoration, termed “Youm-e-Istehsal” or Day of Exploitation, attracted a wide array of participants, including notable academics, human rights activists, and members of the diplomatic community, highlighting the ongoing dispute and the plight of Kashmiris.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event featured several key moments including the reading of special messages from Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister, and a video message from the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan. Dr. Fareha Bugti, Chargé d’Affaires at the embassy, underscored Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination, denounced India’s actions as illegal, and called for global intervention in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.



The gathering also included impactful speeches from various advocates and experts like Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, and Dr. Mohsin Ansari, among others, who voiced their solidarity with the Kashmiri people and demanded an end to human rights abuses in the region. A photo exhibition and a documentary titled “Unheard: The Invisible Trauma of Kashmiris” were also part of the event, showcasing the severe human rights violations faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule.
