Karachi: Pakistan has successfully transitioned from macroeconomic stabilization towards sustainable, private sector-led growth, Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad announced. This shift is driven by structural reforms, improving investor confidence, and strengthening economic fundamentals, he noted.
According to Radio Pakistan, Schehzad made these remarks during a seminar titled “Pakistan Economic Outlook: Fiscal Year 2027 and Beyond” held in Karachi. He stated that Pakistan’s economy has seen a significant turnaround over the past two to three years, with macroeconomic stability firmly reestablished. The focus is now on sustaining higher, investment-led, and export-oriented growth. Real GDP growth has increased to 3.7 percent, aided by improved performance across agriculture, large-scale manufacturing, and the services sector.
Schehzad also highlighted the significant strengthening of Pakistan’s external sector. The current account deficit has narrowed to less than $150 million, compared to $17.5 billion in 2022.
