Kabul: Pakistan marked the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos with a solemn ceremony at its embassy in Kabul, where Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani emphasized the country’s unwavering resolve to defend itself against any aggression. The ambassador praised the armed forces for their valiant response on behalf of every Pakistani, highlighting the nation’s eternal gratitude for their sacrifices.
According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Nizamani underscored that Pakistan’s aspiration for peace should not be mistaken for weakness, advocating for increased vigilance against emerging threats. He referenced the recent election in West Bengal, which resulted in systemic violence against Muslims, as a cautionary example of renewed anti-Muslim policies in India. He stressed the importance of unified national support for the armed forces in ensuring national security. The ambassador also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kashmiri Muslims and their right to self-determination as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Regarding Afghanistan, Ambassador Nizamani called for stronger ties while urging Afghan authorities to address terrorist threats originating from their territory. He also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in mitigating tensions between the United States and Iran, reflecting the country’s dedication to global peace.
During the event, messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Muhamad Ishaq Dar were conveyed. Additionally, a special documentary on Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was screened to commemorate the occasion.
