Pakistan and Italy Strengthen Bilateral Ties Through Political Consultations

Rome: The 6th round of Pakistan-Italy Bilateral Political Consultations was held in Rome on February 28, marking a significant step in strengthening the relationship between the two nations. Leading the discussions were Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Amna Baloch, and Italy’s Secretary General, Ricardo Guariglia.

According to a statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both parties expressed their satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, as well as their cooperation within the framework of the European Union. The talks highlighted the growing trade ties between the countries and identified potential areas for further collaboration, including the economy, development, agriculture, defense, higher education, and cultural exchanges.

The discussions also included a review of the Bilateral Consular Consultations held earlier this year in Islamabad, which both sides assessed positively. The two countries acknowledged their shared perspectives on various international and regional issues and emphasized their close coordination within the United Nations.

During the consultations, Foreign Secretary Baloch extended a formal invitation from Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to hold the second Ministerial Review of the Pakistan-Italy Strategic Engagement Plan in Islamabad this year. The dialogue concluded with an agreement to convene the 7th session of the consultations in Pakistan next year, further solidifying the commitment to mutual cooperation and dialogue.
