Pakistan Affirms Support for Lebanon Amid Tensions with Israel


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a meeting with Ahmad Al-Hajjar, Lebanon’s Minister of Interior and Municipalities, in Islamabad. The Prime Minister condemned Israel’s actions against Lebanon and expressed deep sympathy for the loss of lives and property resulting from the attacks.



According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting underscored the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Lebanon, with both leaders expressing satisfaction over the growing cooperation in interior and security affairs. Prime Minister Sharif conveyed his solidarity with the Lebanese leadership and people during these challenging times and extended his warm wishes to the Lebanese government.



During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations, and the Lebanese Interior Minister expressed gratitude for the warm reception, reaffirming Lebanon’s intention to enhance bilateral cooperation with Pakistan. A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, which establishes a legal framework for convicted nationals to serve the remainder of their sentences in their home countries.
