D.I. Khan: Pakistan Customs has successfully intercepted a major arms smuggling operation, disrupting weapons supply lines to terrorist groups near Dera Ismail Khan. According to a press release issued by Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement) Peshawar, officials, acting on reliable intelligence, halted a vehicle carrying a significant cache of illegal arms and ammunition on the Goluti-D.I. Khan route.

A specially deployed team from Joint Check Post Yarik was able to intercept the suspect vehicle. When signaled to stop, the driver attempted to flee, prompting customs staff to pursue and apprehend the vehicle at Sidra Sharif around 1:00 a.m. The driver managed to escape, leaving behind a substantial array of weapons and ammunition, including assault rifles, pistols, and thousands of rounds of varied calibers.

The confiscated items comprise M4-type rifles, G-III rifles, high-capacity rifle magazines, AK-47 magazines and ammunition, as well as handguns of various makes and origins. Efforts to locate the driver and determine the network responsible for the consignment are underway in collaboration with law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Ayesha Bashir Wani, Collector of Customs (Enforcement) Peshawar, remarked that this timely seizure underscores the vigilance, professionalism, and commitment of the field staff in preventing terrorist and criminal networks from accessing arms and ammunition, thus ensuring public safety.
