Pakistan and EU Pledge to Strengthen Democratic Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the European Union have reaffirmed their commitment to democratic values, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights as shared priorities, and have agreed on the need to strengthen mutual cooperation. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Member of the European Parliament, Ondrej Dostál, in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions focused on further enhancing the positive and constructive relations between Pakistan and the EU, with an emphasis on promoting parliamentary engagement. Minister Tarar highlighted the importance of democratic values, the constitutional system, and the rule of law, noting their critical role in fostering cooperation both nationally and internationally.

Ondrej Dostál acknowledged and appreciated the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the Federal Minister in the areas of constitutional and legal affairs. Both sides expressed a shared vision for deepening their partnership and working collaboratively towards common goals.
