New York: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to bolster their strategic partnership, focusing on enhancing cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, internal security, and border management. This development emerged from a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and China’s Vice Minister of Public Security, Ling Zhifeng, held at the United Nations Headquarters.
According to Radio Pakistan, both officials agreed to expand collaboration on internal security matters and emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in combating illegal immigration and counter-narcotics efforts. Minister Naqvi highlighted the need to curb terrorist financing and expressed Pakistan’s interest in deepening security cooperation with China. He also mentioned the establishment of a Special Protection Police Force to ensure the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
During the discussions, Naqvi stressed the significance of people-to-people contacts for promoting bilateral relations and called for facilitating the visa regime to enhance these interactions. China’s Vice Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and underscored the importance of joint efforts to combat terrorism.
