Islamabad: In a significant security initiative, the Islamabad Police, following directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, conducted extensive combing and search operations targeting criminal activities and illegal residents throughout the federal capital. According to Islamabad Capital Police, these operations, led by SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, involved 597 separate activities during the first quarter of 2026, including participation from the Counter Terrorism Department, various police stations, and other law enforcement agencies.
The operations resulted in the inspection of 57,961 individuals, over 25,000 households, 6,871 shops, and 2,188 hotels. As part of the crackdown, 19,343 motorcycles and 6,884 vehicles were searched, leading to the detention of 3,383 suspicious individuals, including 362 Afghan nationals residing illegally. Additionally, 109 vehicles and 1,751 motorcycles were seized.
Under the “Weapon-Free Islamabad” initiative, authorities confiscated firearms and ammunition, including 12 Kalashnikovs, four rifles, and other weapons. Concurrently, the “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaign against drug trafficking yielded 5 kg of hashish, 6 kg of heroin, 5 kg of methamphetamine, and 87 bottles of liquor.
IGP Rizvi emphasized the importance of these operations for maintaining peace and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement efforts. The police continue to prioritize crime prevention and the provision of a safe environment for the public, with ongoing encouragement for residents to report suspicious activities promptly.
