Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the National Forensics Agency (NFA) have entered into a formal partnership to incorporate advanced forensic science into the agency’s investigative processes. This collaboration aims to improve the scientific accountability of NAB’s inquiries and strengthen the prosecution process.

According to Press Information Department, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Mr. Amjad Majeed Aulakh, Director General of Operations at NAB, and Mr. Jawad Ahmad Dogar, Director General of the NFA. The signing ceremony took place at NAB Headquarters, attended by Chairman NAB Lt Gen (R) Nazir Ahmed and senior officials from both organizations.

The agreement outlines a framework where NAB will send investigative materials to NFA for comprehensive crime-scene investigation and scientific analysis. In return, NAB will receive authenticated forensic reports to aid in evidence-driven prosecutions. NFA’s forensic experts will also provide expert testimony in Accountability Courts and other judicial forums as necessary.

The partnership has established rigorous protocols to ensure the secure handling and confidentiality of sensitive investigative materials. Additionally, mechanisms for focal-point coordination and service-based financial reconciliation have been put in place to facilitate efficient inter-agency cooperation.

This strategic agreement marks a significant step in modernizing the national accountability framework, focusing on procedural rigor and transparency in legal proceedings.
