ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the National Forensics Agency have formalized an agreement to integrate forensic science into NAB’s investigative processes. The collaboration, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to advance the rigor and transparency of legal proceedings by incorporating scientific analysis into inquiries and prosecutions.

According to Radio Pakistan, the MoU was signed by DG Operations NAB Amjad Majeed Aulakh and DG National Forensics Agency Jawad Ahmad Dogar at NAB Headquarters. The signing ceremony was attended by NAB Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Nazir Ahmed and other officials. The agreement outlines that NAB will submit investigative materials to the National Forensics Agency for crime-scene investigation and scientific analysis, with the agency providing authenticated forensic reports.

The partnership will also involve forensic experts from the National Forensics Agency offering expert testimony in Accountability Courts and other judicial forums. The MoU establishes strict protocols to ensure the secure handling of sensitive materials and defines mechanisms for inter-agency coordination and financial reconciliation. This strategic alliance is designed to modernize the national accountability framework and enhance the integrity of the legal process.
