Murad Shah Pushes for Rapid Completion of Major Karachi Infrastructure Projects


KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the accelerated completion of two significant infrastructure projects in Karachi, the BRT Red Line corridor and the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway, to enhance traffic flow and connectivity. Shah, accompanied by key provincial and city officials, emphasized completing the projects promptly to alleviate the city’s prolonged construction-related inconveniences.



According to Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah led comprehensive inspections of the BRT Red Line mixed traffic corridor and the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway. He ordered round-the-clock efforts to ensure the projects meet their deadlines and improve conditions for commuters. The chief minister underscored the importance of coordinated actions among various departments to remove obstacles hindering progress, particularly in traffic management and drainage systems.



During his inspection of the BRT Red Line project, Shah reviewed ongoing work from Dawood University to Mosmiyat, focusing on mixed traffic lanes and utility shifting. He instructed authorities to expedite these efforts, aiming for visible improvements in road conditions within three months. The current progress on various segments, including asphalt patchwork and water pipeline relocations, was presented, with directives for additional night shifts to speed up drainage works.



For the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway, Shah assessed ongoing efforts from the Shah Faisal Interchange to the Kathore Interchange. With a completion target of June 2026, the project has achieved significant milestones. The chief minister emphasized the importance of timely completion, stating the need for improved mobility and modern transport facilities for Karachi’s residents.
