Islamabad: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, in collaboration with Meta, has inaugurated the Small Business Growth Academy in Pakistan, a new initiative designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises with digital and AI capabilities. The program aims to transform the digital landscape for businesses across the country through practical training on Meta’s digital platforms and AI tools.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Khawaja emphasized the importance of equipping Pakistan’s SMEs with advanced digital skills to foster a more innovative and competitive economy. The initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision for a future driven by inclusivity and innovation. The collaboration with Meta reflects the government’s commitment to public-private partnerships that create business opportunities and strengthen digital skills.
Tehara Punchihewa, Associate Public Policy Manager for Asia-Pacific at Meta, announced that the Small Business Growth Academy will be implemented in major cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and others. The program is expected to reach over a thousand small businesses through a combination of in-person and virtual workshops, structured learning modules, and partner-led training.
The initiative is supported by AtomCamp and backed by organizations such as Ignite National Technology Fund, Pakistan Software Houses Association, Pakistan Software Export Board, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, and DialZero. It aims to enhance the digital presence of entrepreneurs, improve customer interactions, and open new market opportunities both locally and internationally.
