Islamabad: Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Malik Mukhtar Bharat, alongside the Federal Secretary and Director General Health, played a key role in the National Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Conference. The conference emphasized enhancing Pakistan’s capacity to handle public health emergencies through improved coordination and response mechanisms.

According to Press Information Department, the participants, including Bharat, the Federal Secretary, and Director General Health, provided strategic insights into strengthening the nation’s emergency preparedness. They highlighted the necessity of institutional coordination, readiness capacities, and timely responses during health crises. Bharat stressed the importance of a cohesive and proactive national health emergency response system, advocating for collaboration among federal and provincial health authorities, development partners, and other stakeholders. The event, organized by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, was supported by international organizations such as WHO, UNFPA, UNIOM, UNICEF, Save the Children, and IRC.

The Federal Secretary focused on the need for strong institutional frameworks and effective governance to tackle emerging health threats. The Director General Health shared technical insights on enhancing preparedness with a focus on surveillance and rapid response.

The conference served as a platform for stakeholders, including UN agencies and development partners, to exchange knowledge and discuss measures to strengthen Pakistan’s health security framework. Attendees, including provincial health departments, highlighted the need for improved coordination and capacity building through disaster training and advocacy efforts. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to reinforcing national health emergency preparedness and ensuring a resilient health system.
