LAHORE: In a decisive move to combat illegal lending practices, Lahore’s Capital City Police Officer, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, has initiated a crackdown on usurers, vowing to provide victims with justice, legal assistance, and protection.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, during a meeting focused on the performance of the Iqbal Town and Saddar police divisions, the CCPO outlined a zero-tolerance policy against usury. Kamyana emphasized that the operation against loan-sharks would be personally monitored to ensure tangible results. He instructed the police to promptly address complaints from victims and take effective legal action against those involved in such practices, describing usury as a serious social evil causing financial and social hardship.

The CCPO encouraged citizens affected by usury to report incidents without fear, assuring them of comprehensive legal aid and protection. Additionally, he ordered stringent security measures for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 14, warning that activities such as one-wheeling and aerial firing would not be tolerated, with strict actions promised against violators.

The meeting also evaluated the performance of the divisional police, crime prevention strategies, quality of investigations, and other operational matters. Kamyana directed intensified efforts to prevent crime and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property. He stressed the importance of a prompt, professional, and results-oriented police response to public complaints.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including DIG (Investigations) Zeeshan Raza, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, SSP (Investigation) Muhammad Naveed, SSP (Operations) Abdullah Ahmad, along with SPs, ASPs, circle officers, SHOs, and investigation in-charges from Iqbal Town and Saddar divisions.
