Key to Peace in South Asia Is Resolution of Kashmir Dispute, Says AJK President


Muzaffarabad: President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, stated that resolving the Kashmir dispute is crucial for achieving peace in South Asia. Speaking at an Iftar dinner in Dhirkot, he emphasized the threat posed by the ongoing conflict to regional stability.



President Chaudhry highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to advance the Kashmir cause on both national and international platforms. He addressed the challenges faced by Kashmiris under India’s administration, particularly following the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Modi government.



He criticized the repression of political and religious rights in Kashmir, pointing out the severe measures taken against those opposing India’s control. The president noted the suppression of political voices and the harsh treatment of individuals who seek resolution in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.



The president also condemned the restrictions on education, employment, and property rights in Kashmir, labeling these actions as violations of international law. He called for the global community to hold India accountable for its actions in the region.



Barrister Chaudhry mentioned his recent visits to Britain and the United States, where he advocated for the Kashmir issue. He reiterated that peace in South Asia is intricately linked to the resolution of the Kashmir conflict.
