Israel Admits Fatal Error in Killing of Gazan Medics

Gaza: Israel’s military has acknowledged that its forces mistakenly killed over 15 emergency workers in southern Gaza last month, following an incident near Rafah involving a convoy of Palestinian Red Crescent Society ambulances, a UN vehicle, and a Gaza Civil Defence fire truck.

Initially, the Israeli army reported that its troops fired upon the convoy because it approached suspiciously at night without headlights or flashing lights. The movement of these vehicles had not been pre-arranged with the military, according to the initial claims.

However, mobile phone footage captured by one of the deceased paramedics reveals the convoy did have their lights on while responding to an emergency call to aid wounded individuals. This evidence has led to Israel revising its previous account, attributing the inaccuracies to the troops involved.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) maintain that at least six of the medics had connections to Hamas, although no evidence has been provided to support this assertion. It has been confirmed that the medics were unarmed when the soldiers opened fire.

The video evidence further indicates that the vehicles were clearly identified, and the paramedics were wearing reflective high-visibility uniforms, challenging the initial claims of suspicious movements by the convoy.
