Islamabad: In a major crackdown, Islamabad Police have arrested 16 criminals from three notorious gangs involved in a series of serious crimes, including robbery, dacoity, and a blind murder case. The Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) of the Islamabad Police made the arrests over a 10-day period, recovering stolen items valued at 5.48 million rupees, including cash, mobile phones, and a kidnapped child.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were made under the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. During a press conference at the “Rescue-15” station, attended by senior police officials including DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq and SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza, the successes of the RDU in combating organized crime were highlighted. The police emphasized their commitment to a “Crime-Free Islamabad” and detailed the swift resolution of a high-profile murder and kidnapping case in the Noon Police Station area.
In the murder case, which occurred on March 25, 2026, four individuals were killed, and an eight-year-old girl was kidnapped in the Jhangi Syedan area. Using modern technology, police teams traced and arrested three suspects within 24 hours, safely recovering the child. The suspects, Muhammad Yusuf, Ibrahim, and Reshman Bibi, were apprehended, while the search for additional fugitives continues.
Additionally, on April 6, 2026, three members of the “Shero Gang” were arrested following a robbery in the Bhara Kahu area, where they had stolen over 4 million rupees. The gang members, including their leader Sher Khan, were apprehended, and a substantial portion of the stolen money was recovered.
Further arrests were made in connection with numerous snatching incidents across various police station jurisdictions, leading to the detention of seven members of the “Raja Gang” and three members of the “Sani Gang.” These arrests resulted in the recovery of valuable items and the tracing of multiple criminal cases, showcasing the effectiveness of the ongoing police operations.
DIG Islamabad reiterated the department’s commitment to continuing these operations without discrimination, aiming to significantly reduce crime rates in the federal capital.
