ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi convened a meeting at the Central Police Office to assess the progress of the Safe City expansion project, discuss technology-based policing, and enhance mobile applications for public service facilitation.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the meeting included senior officials such as DG Safe City/DIG Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joya, DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, SSP Investigations Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, and SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza. The IGP reviewed plans to broaden the scope of Safe City cameras, optimize data analytics, and gradually incorporate artificial intelligence systems for proactive crime prevention.
The IGP emphasized the need for intensified actions against criminal elements, advising improvements in the patrolling system and identification of crime hotspots through digital monitoring. He called for transparent and merit-based investigations, highlighting the activation of the case management system and the professional training of investigation officers.
In discussions with the SSP Operations and other patrol units, the focus was on enhancing the Capital Patrolling Unit’s response time and citizen protection. The IGP directed the provision of modern equipment, including communication tools, body cameras, and GPS tracking for patrol units.
Meetings with the SSP CTD and Director ITP FM 92.4 centered on building the Counter Terrorism Department’s capacity, improving intelligence sharing, and reinforcing crime prevention through technology and training. The IGP also stressed the importance of road safety campaigns, community policing, and effective use of media for public awareness.
The IGP reiterated the commitment to citizen facilitation, safety, and modern policing, urging officers to maintain professional integrity and a public-friendly approach while strengthening monitoring and accountability systems.
