Srinagar: Indian police have registered cases against participants of pro-Palestine rallies in the districts of Budgam and Baramulla in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), citing unlawful slogans and activities.
In Budgam, an FIR was filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Beerwah police station, targeting organizers and participants of a rally held on Al-Quds Day in Sonpah village. The authorities accused the participants of raising slogans that led to a “law and order situation.” An official indicated that further investigations are ongoing, with actions to be taken as per the law.
In Baramulla, authorities reported a similar case under the UAPA against individuals for displaying Hezbollah flags and engaging in related sloganeering during a procession in Chainabal, Pattan. Police noted that some participants carried flags, placards, and banners associated with Hezbollah, and voiced support for the group.
These developments highlight ongoing tensions in the region and the Indian government’s stance on managing dissent related to international issues.
