Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders, Khawaja Firdous, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Muhammad Shafi Lone, have said that the Kashmiri women are constantly facing insecurity, fear and torture due to India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a joint statement issued in Srinagar, today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the APHC leaders said India is subjecting the Kashmiri women to the worst brutalities for their important role in the ongoing freedom struggle. They said that the Indian army is using the molestation of the Kashmiri women as a weapon of war to suppress the freedom movement and cited the Kunanposhpora mass rape, Shopian double rape and murder and Kathua rape and murder of a minor girl as its examples.
The APHC leaders said that many women, including Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, and Fehmeeda Sofi are languishing in India jails. Indian soldiers have also blinded thousands of Kashmiris including many young girls by using lethal pellet guns on protesters.
The APHC leaders said that India is using every brutal tactic to subdue the Kashmiris’ resolve for freedom but would never succeed in its nefarious designs. They said the Kashmiri people will continue their struggle till they achieve their right to self-determination. They urged the United Nations to take cognizance of the Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory and put pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
