Washington: India has been ranked as the third most dangerous country to drive in, according to a report by the US-based driver training company Zutobi.com. The report assessed driving conditions across 53 countries, placing India at 49th on the list in terms of safety.
The report highlighted South Africa as the most dangerous country for driving, maintaining its position at the bottom of the list for the second consecutive year. In contrast, Norway was identified as the safest country for driving, a title it has held for four years.
Zutobi’s analysis considered various indicators, including motorway speed limits, blood alcohol concentration limits for drivers, and road traffic death rates. These factors were used to evaluate and rank the safety of driving conditions worldwide.
The report noted a positive global trend with the average number of estimated road traffic deaths per 100,000 people decreasing from 8.9 to 6.3. However, the report found no changes in the national speed limits and blood alcohol concentration limits in any of the surveyed countries.
The findings serve as a critical reminder of the need for continued focus on road safety initiatives to reduce traffic-related fatalities globally.
