Hungary Seeks to Enhance Economic Ties with Pakistan: Szijjártó


Islamabad: The Hungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, has announced Hungary’s intention to expand cooperation with Pakistan in sectors including economy and trade. Speaking at the Pakistan-Hungary Business Forum in Islamabad, Szijjártó expressed optimism about the success of B2B meetings held between the two nations.



During his address, the Hungarian Foreign Minister highlighted plans for an agreement on mutual protection of investment and another on aviation, aimed at establishing direct air connections. He also expressed support for Pakistan to continue benefiting from the GSP Plus trade incentives beyond 2027.



Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, echoed these sentiments, expressing hope that B2B engagements would lead to meaningful partnerships. Khan noted Pakistan’s progress in improving its trade and investment climate through regulatory reforms aimed at enhancing ease of doing business and attracting foreign investment.



Khan also mentioned ongoing efforts to develop e-commerce and boost the digital economy. He emphasized Pakistan’s potential as a promising destination for foreign investors, acknowledging Hungary’s technological expertise and capacity for innovation as key areas for cooperation.



Szijjártó’s visit to Islamabad included discussions with senior officials, as he was welcomed by the Additional Secretary Europe, Muhammad Ayyub, and the Ambassador of Hungary upon arrival.
