New York: Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martínez Alvarado expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Radio Pakistan, the two ministers reaffirmed the friendly relations between their countries and celebrated the signing of the Agreement on Bilateral Political Consultations. This agreement is expected to provide a structured framework for ongoing engagement and enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Minister Martínez Alvarado acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive contributions to diplomatic and mediation efforts supporting regional peace and stability. Discussions between the officials also touched on the impact of ongoing crises on energy supplies, highlighting the need for the free flow of energy, maritime trade, and the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional challenges.

Both ministers emphasized the significance of multilateralism in tackling global issues and reaffirmed their commitment to multilateral institutions, particularly the United Nations. The Guatemalan Foreign Minister also recognized Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to UN peacekeeping efforts. The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain contact on matters of mutual interest.
