New York: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has underscored the importance of digital transformation in Pakistan’s transition from economic stabilization to sustainable growth. Speaking at the Digital Cooperation Organization’s High-Level Ministerial Dialogue, held alongside the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Aurangzeb highlighted the role of digital public infrastructure and cashless payments as critical components of this transition.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister emphasized the need for connectivity to be paired with upskilling and reskilling initiatives to aid freelancers and digital workers in accessing higher-value services. He pointed out the widespread adoption of virtual assets in Pakistan and discussed ongoing efforts in legislation, oversight, and licensing, noting the practical applications beyond cryptocurrency, such as more seamless remittances and potential tokenization of public debt and real estate.

Aurangzeb also called for enhanced collaboration among Digital Cooperation Organization member states to share successful strategies and attract investment in the digital economy. The Minister’s remarks reflect a broader commitment to leveraging digital tools for sustainable economic development in Pakistan.
