Islamabad: The National Assembly resumed its session with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq presiding, focusing on key legislative activities and addressing pressing national issues. In the session, efforts were announced to reduce the gender gap between male and female voters.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Nazeer Tarar highlighted that the Election Commission of Pakistan is actively working on initiatives to address the gender disparity in voter registration and participation. The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting these efforts through cooperation with agencies like NADRA and other departments.
Additionally, Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services Nelson Azeem assured the assembly of the availability of medical equipment, including ventilators and testing machines, in hospitals across the Federal Capital. This statement was made in response to concerns raised in a Calling Attention Notice.
During the session, the National Assembly passed “The Nexus International University of Health Emerging Sciences and Technologies, Islamabad Bill 2024.” Furthermore, “The Qanun-e-Shahadat (Amendment) Bill, 2025” was introduced and subsequently referred to the relevant standing committee for further deliberation.
The assembly is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 2 p.m.
