Election Commission of Pakistan Begins Scrutiny of Nomination Papers for 2024 Elections

Karachi, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has commenced the scrutiny process for the nomination papers of candidates participating in the upcoming 2024 general elections, starting today and continuing until the 30th of this month.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the period for filing appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers is set from today until the 3rd of next month. These appeals will be resolved by the 10th of January. Following this, the ECP will publish a revised list of candidates on the 11th of January. Candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their nomination papers by the 12th of January.

The allocation of electoral symbols to candidates is scheduled for the 13th of January, setting the stage for the polling day, which is set for the 8th of February. In a related development, the Election Commission has extended the timeframe for foreign observers interested in monitoring the general elections. The new deadline for submitting applications is now from December 31 to January 20.

This announcement marks a critical phase in the preparation for Pakistan’s 2024 general elections, highlighting the ECP’s commitment to conducting a fair and transparent electoral process.
