Mississauga: The City Council of Mississauga in the Greater Toronto Area held a ceremony at Tillsdown Park to unveil the “Haroon Khan Trail,” a tribute to the Pakistani-Canadian social worker Haroon Khan. The event aimed to honor Khan’s lifetime of service and contributions to social work and humanitarian efforts.
According to Press Information Department, the dedication ceremony attracted several distinguished guests, including Members of Parliament Iqra Khalid, Rechie Valdez, and Peter Fonseca, Member of Provincial Parliament Nina Tangri, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada Muhammad Saleem, Consul General Khalil Ahmed Bajwa, the Mayor of Mississauga, as well as city councillors and community members.
During the event, High Commissioner Saleem expressed gratitude to local authorities for recognizing Haroon Khan’s impact on social work in Canada and beyond. He highlighted the significance of the gesture as a reflection of the contributions made by the Pakistani-Canadian community. Saleem encouraged the diaspora to continue following Khan’s legacy of civic engagement, noting its importance in strengthening ties between Pakistan and Canada.
