LAHORE: Punjab Police maintained a heightened state of alertness to ensure security for Christian worship prayer programs conducted in churches throughout the province. According to Punjab Police, officers and personnel were deployed to perform security duties during these gatherings, with specific attention given to locations in Lahore. Inspector General Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, had previously instructed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to bolster security measures for churches.
Abdul Kareem emphasized that supervisory officers should personally verify security arrangements at churches and other significant sites. He ordered the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches. Furthermore, teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force were tasked with conducting effective patrols in the vicinity of churches. IG Punjab stressed the importance of vigilance among police officers and personnel to monitor potential threats and prevent any untoward incidents. He also advocated for continued search and sweep operations in areas surrounding churches, Christian communities, and other sensitive locations. Abdul Kareem called on religious scholars, the Christian community, and peace committee members to foster interfaith harmony.
