Deputy Prime Minister Orders Enhanced Monitoring for Smooth Sugar Supply During Export Process

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has instructed authorities to implement rigorous monitoring systems to maintain an uninterrupted sugar supply chain and prevent market disruptions amid ongoing sugar exports.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar chaired a Cabinet Committee meeting on the Export of Surplus Sugar in Islamabad, where policy guidelines for sugar exports were finalized. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that while the export initiative is designed to support local farmers, bolster the sugar industry, and enhance foreign exchange reserves, it is crucial to keep domestic market prices stable.

Dar reiterated the directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to safeguard the interests of domestic consumers. The committee also conducted a thorough review of the sugar stock situation ahead of the next crushing season to accurately determine surplus quantities and ensure sufficient reserves for local consumption nationwide.
