Pakistan and China Agree to Operationalize Green Channel at Sost-Khunjerab Border

Islamabad: Pakistan and China have reached an agreement to operationalize a green channel at the Sost-Khunjerab border, aimed at facilitating the movement of agricultural and allied products. The accord was formalized during an online ceremony at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters in Islamabad, involving both nations’ customs administrations.

According to Radio Pakistan, the agreement will enable the customs administrations of Pakistan and China to expedite the processing and examination of eligible consignments. The initiative will employ risk-based controls to maintain effective customs oversight. Additionally, the agreement mandates enhanced exchange of information and risk alerts between the two countries’ customs bodies to bolster coordination and improve cross-border trade management.

The agreement acknowledges the urgency of agricultural trade, providing for the priority handling of perishable goods to minimize delays and ensure their timely passage across the border. This development is expected to streamline trade processes and enhance the efficiency of cross-border agricultural trade between the two nations.
