LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has unveiled plans for a 10-day Basant festival in Lahore, marking a significant cultural celebration for the city. The festival is slated to run from January 29 to February 7, with a pause on February 5 to observe Kashmir Day, as announced in a recent press release.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, this initiative is aimed at promoting Punjab’s cultural heritage and reviving Lahore’s traditional festivities on an international stage. After being celebrated earlier this year following a 25-year hiatus, the festival is set to make a grand return coinciding with the New Year 2027 celebrations.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of safety and convenience, instructing officials to ensure better arrangements than those made during the previous Basant celebrations. She also urged the people of Lahore to demonstrate responsibility and care to protect human lives, continuing the precedent set in earlier festivities.
