KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has sanctioned the allocation of over 22 acres of government land for a new 6 MGD Rapid Gravity Water Treatment Plant in Hyderabad, a move aimed at improving water supply in Qasimabad and nearby areas.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the decision was made during a meeting at the CM House, attended by key officials, including Minister for Planning and Development and Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and others. The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had requested land in Deh Jamshoro, Taluka Qasimabad, for the project under the ADP Scheme. District authorities identified approximately 25 acres, with 22 acres deemed suitable for immediate use.
The Chief Minister approved the land allotment in favor of the Mayor of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. He underscored the urgency of upgrading urban water infrastructure, directing authorities to ensure the project’s swift execution. “We must prioritize the provision of safe and clean drinking water, especially in rapidly growing urban centers like Hyderabad,” Shah stated.
Further, the Chief Minister instructed the Planning and Development Department and local authorities to expedite legal and administrative processes for the project’s timely start. He highlighted that the project would enhance water treatment capacity and meet the rising demand in Qasimabad and surrounding areas. “This project is about public health, improved living standards, and sustainable urban development,” he noted.
The meeting concluded with directives to maintain transparency in land use and closely monitor project implementation to ensure timely results for Hyderabad’s citizens.
