Caretaker Sindh CM Declares Arts Council as a Beacon of Literary Excellence

Karachi, Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar has praised the Arts Council’s International Urdu Conference, an event held for the past 16 years, as a ‘literary brand’ exemplifying love, respect, and tolerance. This commendation came during his address at the conference held at the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi.

According to Sindh Chief Minister House, Justice Baqar emphasized the unifying power of literature, noting its ability to bring people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles together. He reflected on literature’s capacity to convey feelings of solidarity and understanding, highlighting its role in representing human emotions, thoughts, and aspirations. Quoting Shakespeare, he described literature as the expression of life in words of truth and beauty, and as the only history of the human soul.

The Chief Minister appreciated the contributions of prominent literary figures to the conferences. He lauded their efforts in fostering a spirit of tolerance and co-existence among people of different languages, religions, and faiths. Furthermore, Justice Baqar encouraged the youth to participate in such conferences to cultivate a sense of humanity and urged them to develop a habit of reading books. He called on leading literary figures to play their role in transforming Pakistan into a peaceful and tolerant society.
