Britain Reaffirms Support for Pakistan’s Socio-Economic Development

Islamabad, Britain has reiterated its commitment to support Pakistan in its socio-economic development efforts, as stated by British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriot during a meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad. The discussions highlighted the ongoing economic stabilization efforts in Pakistan and explored further areas for collaboration.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Finance Minister welcomed the High Commissioner and Chief Economist and Director for Economics and Evaluation Directorate, Professor Adnan Qadir Khan, showcasing recent achievements such as increased forex reserves, stable currency, and a flourishing stock market. He detailed significant reforms including privatization, restructuring of state-owned enterprises, digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue, and initiatives aimed at export-driven growth and energy sector reforms.

The British delegation expressed confidence in the potential for deeper collaboration, with Jane Marriott highlighting the importance of effective implementation of KPI-based projects. Professor Khan noted that the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has concluded several initiatives that support Pakistan’s domestically driven reform program aimed at economic growth and sustainability.
