Lucknow: Tensions escalate in Uttar Pradesh as BJP MLAs issue stern warnings to Muslim protestors reacting to controversial remarks by Hindutva leader Yati Narsinghanand. The warnings suggest severe repercussions, including legal actions and potential police encounters for those continuing the protests.
According to Kashmir Media Service, BJP MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi expressed a particularly harsh stance against the demonstrators. He threatened that protestors might experience a “taste of Israel” referencing severe measures if they do not cease their activities. He emphasized the use of constitutional means over Sharia, cautioning protestors about the severity of the proposed measures. Another MLA, Nand Kishor Gurjar, spoke to journalists at Dasna Devi temple, suggesting that protest participants should face charges under the National Security Act or, failing arrest, be dealt with in police encounters. He underscored the need for a more assertive police response to the demonstrations.
This situation follows widespread outrage among Muslim organizations after Narsinghanand made blasphemous remarks against the Prophet Muhammad, which they deemed intolerable and deserving of severe legal consequences. Authorities have yet to act against Narsinghanand, despite the growing clamor for his arrest.
Leaders from various Muslim communities, including Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani and Maulana Mahmood Madani, have vocally condemned Narsinghanand’s statements, calling for immediate legal action and the promotion of communal harmony. The protests and demands for justice continue to spread across Uttar Pradesh, signaling a deepening conflict that challenges the state’s communal peace and legal boundaries.
