ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the essential role of private investment in driving Pakistan’s economic growth, underscoring the need for strategic initiatives to bolster investment in the country. In a meeting held in Islamabad on Monday, focused on promoting Private Equity to boost investments, Sharif outlined the importance of establishing a Private Equity Fund to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister called for a comprehensive strategy to be developed promptly to facilitate investment and enhance the public equity market. The proposed roadmap aims to ease the availability of investment capital, attract foreign investment, and stimulate economic activities. Sharif highlighted that Private Equity Funds could act as a catalyst for investment, business growth, and job creation, particularly in sectors such as minerals, agriculture, livestock, energy, and information technology.
The Prime Minister pointed out the limited investment volume from the banking sector, stressing the urgent need to promote alternative investment sources. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the economy through private sector-led investment, industrial growth, and increased exports, aiming for sustainable economic development.
