Islamabad: A high-level delegation of Bangladeshi academicians, led by Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Bangladesh, Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, has arrived in Islamabad for a week-long program aimed at enhancing academic collaboration with Pakistan. The group includes 13 members, featuring eight vice chancellors from prominent Bangladeshi universities.
According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the visit seeks to bolster academic cooperation and foster knowledge exchange between the two countries. The initiative is designed to facilitate future partnerships, faculty and student exchanges, and collaboration between academic institutions in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
On the first day, the delegation visited the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST) in Haripur, where they were briefed on various aspects of the institute, including its structure and international collaborations. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between North South University, Bangladesh, and PAF-IAST.
The delegation also explored the UNESCO heritage site Jaulian in Taxila and visited the Islamabad campus of the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES). Presentations were given on the university’s accomplishments and global partnerships. Two additional MoUs were signed between FAST University and Daffodil International University Bangladesh, and the University of Rajshahi Bangladesh.
The signing of three MoUs on the first day highlights the productive nature of the visit, underscoring the educational ties and expanding academic cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
