Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Commitment to Partnership with AIIB


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to nurturing a long-term partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). This commitment was expressed during a meeting with AIIB President Zou Jiayi, who visited Islamabad with her delegation.



According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of the partnership between Pakistan and AIIB, noting the country’s status as a founding member of the institution. He expressed appreciation for AIIB’s ongoing support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development plans.



During the discussion, the Prime Minister outlined the government’s priorities, which focus on sustainable and inclusive economic growth. He identified potential areas for collaboration with AIIB, including railways, agriculture, regional connectivity, renewable energy, and youth involvement in technology sectors.



The Prime Minister also highlighted policy reforms aimed at achieving economic stability and creating an investment-friendly environment. He stressed the significance of partnerships with multilateral financial institutions like AIIB in realizing these goals.



AIIB President Zou Jiayi expressed the Bank’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Pakistan across various sectors. She commended Prime Minister Sharif’s leadership and acknowledged his dedication to Pakistan’s development.



Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation and working together to support sustainable development, regional integration, and economic growth.
