Aurangzeb Khan Khichi Highlights Role of Literature in Building Society


Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi has emphasized the significant role poets and writers play in shaping society, noting that literary gatherings contribute to intellectual and cultural development.



According to Press Information Department, Khichi made these remarks as the chief guest at a ceremony in Islamabad honoring Prof. Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javed for his publication “Kulliyat-e-Mazahiya Shairi” (Collected Humorous Poetry). The event was organized by Bazm-e-Adab Islamabad in collaboration with the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).



Khichi stated that such literary events foster intellectual and cultural enrichment and reinforce the concept of “literature for life.” He described the Pakistan Academy of Letters as a vital part of the National Heritage and Culture Division’s institutions.



The Federal Minister extended his congratulations to Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javed on his publication and commended Bazm-e-Adab Islamabad and the Pakistan Academy of Letters for hosting the distinguished literary event.



Former Inspector General of Police and guest of honour Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema praised Dr. Javed as a distinctive humorist, noting that his poetry reflects diversity, satire, and societal observations. Cheema also lauded Dr. Javed’s administrative skills.



Syed Tahir Shahbaz remarked that literary works mirror the author’s personality, describing Dr. Javed’s nine-book collection as a “rainbow of nine colours,” showcasing varied aspects of his literary career.



Chairperson of the Pakistan Academy of Letters Prof. Dr. Najiba Arif congratulated Dr. Javed on his publication, highlighting that meaningful humour can only be crafted by poets attuned to social issues and human sensitivity. She noted that his poetry blends humour with social consciousness.



Dr. Arshad Mahmood Nashad discussed humour as a coping mechanism, citing Dr. Javed’s deep life insights and observations. Brigadier (Retd.) Dr. Safdar Ali Shah and Dr. Syed Raghib Ali spoke on his command of language and the nuances of his humorous poetry.



Dr. Amjad Ali Bhatti also commented on Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javed’s personality and literary impact. In his address, Dr. Javed shared selected verses from his works and expressed gratitude to the organizers for the event.
