Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Celebrates Launch of Gohar Azmi’s Literary Works

Karachi, The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s Literary Committee hosted a book launch event for Gohar Azmi’s works, “Nabi hamarrey”, “Dastak”, and “Dolphin”. The event took place at Haseena Moin Hall and featured various speakers and literary figures who shared their insights on Azmi’s contributions to literature. The ceremony, moderated by Ali Hassan Sajid, was presided over by Professor Khayal Afaqi, who commended Azmi’s efforts in religious and literary writing.

According to Arts Council Karachi, the event celebrated Gohar Azmi’s significant literary contributions, particularly in religious literature. Speakers at the event, including Dr. Sohail Shafiq, Rizwan Siddiqui, Akhtar Saeedi, Tahir Sultani, Owais Adeeb Ansari, and Alia Saram, praised Azmi’s work for its depth and impact. “Nabi hamarrey”, which focuses on the biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was particularly highlighted for its importance in educating children and adults alike.

Professor Khayal Afaqi, in his address, emphasized the dual nature of every endeavor, stating that writing and compiling a religious book is akin to performing a Sunnah. He noted the unique quality of Azmi’s work in Urdu literature and the importance of preserving the Arabic language, which is integral to Islamic teachings.

Rizwan Siddiqui admired Azmi’s book on Sirat Tayyaba, acknowledging its exceptional writing and profound impact. Owais Adeeb Ansari commended Azmi for his outstanding contribution to writing about the Prophet’s biography, emphasizing the significance of such work in the current era.

Sohail Shafiq remarked on the comprehensive nature of “Nabi hamarrey”, noting its inclusion of important maps of Islamic historical sites and its accessibility to a younger audience. Tahir Sultani highlighted the book’s contribution to Urdu naat literature, especially its focus on the Prophet’s interactions with children.

Alia Saram reflected on the power of poetry in encapsulating profound meanings and praised Azmi as an exemplary author. Akhtar Saeedi recited a poem from Azmi’s book, and Ali Hassan Sajid presented his essay, contributing to the rich literary discourse of the event.

The book launch at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi represents a significant moment in celebrating and promoting literary works that bridge religious education and literary excellence.
