Karachi, In a significant gesture towards promoting interfaith harmony, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir emphasized the importance of fostering such harmony in society, in line with Quaid’s vision of a united and progressive Pakistan. His remarks were made during his visit to Christ Church, Rawalpindi, where he joined the Christian community in their Christmas celebrations.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the congregation at Christ Church warmly welcomed the COAS, appreciating his participation in the festivities. General Munir extended Merry Christmas wishes to the entire Christian community in Pakistan and expressed his reverence for all religious communities. He highlighted Islam’s teachings on peace, friendship, and the encouragement of interfaith harmony, which he deemed crucial in the present times.
The COAS stressed the importance of forming perspectives based on truth and knowledge about national issues, as opposed to succumbing to rhetoric and propaganda. He addressed the challenges and issues facing the nation, pointing out the efforts by enemies of Pakistan to create divisions using religious, ethnic, and political vulnerabilities. Emphasizing unity, he called for collective resilience and strength to counter these threats.
On the occasion of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s 147th birthday, the Army Chief paid tribute to his vision and leadership, quoting his historic remarks from August 11, 1947, advocating for religious freedom in Pakistan. He concluded by acknowledging the significant contributions and sacrifices of the entire Christian community in Pakistan across various fields and domains.
