Bhubaneswar: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has issued a strong critique against what he describes as the misuse of key investigative agencies for political purposes. He claims that entities such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax Department are being wielded as tools against the political adversaries of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a press conference held in Odisha, and reported by Kashmir Media Service, Yadav demanded the shutdown of these agencies if they continue to be employed for political vendettas. He specifically called on Congress to support the dissolution of the ED in light of recent charges against Congress figures Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald Case, which involves allegations of money laundering.
Yadav also addressed the recent violence that erupted in Murshidabad on April 11-12, 2025. The clashes followed protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. He emphasized the need for political leaders to actively discourage communal tensions, advocating for a society that does not tolerate violence based on religion or caste.
In response to comments from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about the Murshidabad violence, Yadav remarked, “Just wearing a saffron color doesn’t make someone a Yogi.” He went on to criticize Adityanath’s leadership, claiming that under his governance, Uttar Pradesh consistently ranks low in national metrics across various domains. Additionally, Yadav accused the BJP of being involved in major riots within the state.
